Focusing on the basics of health, naturally
Dr. Elaine Carter
“I was blessed with inexhaustible curiosity.”
My dad was a chiropractor. I grew up watching him and listening to him talk about his patients. He was always so interested in them and he did some amazing things. People who had no hope got well. He loved his work, yet was unable to explain to me how it all worked. Also he was of the generation where daughters weren’t the likely candidate to follow in the father’s path.
A Chiropractic Education
Consequently, my education took the circuitous path of my curiosity. I graduated from SMSU in 1976 with enough hours to have a couple of degrees; I studied horticulture, sociology, zoology, and business. I opened a natural food store in 1978, out on the cutting edge of a new movement. I studied Herbology with Dr. John Christopher and Iridology with Dr. Bernard Jensen. I began to see how the human system was interconnected. Each time I learned something new my enthusiasm grew. I studied clinical nutrition, biochemistry, and a practice called “Touch for Health” where I learned about kinesiology. I began to understand that the only professional field that encompassed all this was chiropractic – – and right back to my dad.
So, I went to Kansas City to attend Cleveland Chiropractic College, graduating as a Doctor of Chiropractic in 1994. The education there was textbook-medical plus the foundational principles of chiropractic: There is an intelligence inside our bodies that knows how to heal us. This innate healing program, written into our DNA, can become blocked or distorted. For health to be fully expressed, this program needs to be free from these blocks and distortions. By removing the interference balance is restored. I can utilize spinal adjustments, acupuncture, nutrition, exercise…. This is exciting stuff! The learning never stops.
Dr. Carter, a Chiropractor in Balance with Well-Being
When my brain gets full with health care, I take it to my backyard garden. I love my raised bed gardens and highly encourage everyone to grow some of their own food. Dinner at my house is usually out of the garden. It’s the exercise that feeds. I do my best to live the lifestyle that I advocate. It takes work, it takes planning and the payoff is fabulous.
My mission is to guide you to regain this balanced expression of well-being. I believe with all my heart in the value to this approach and I continually strive to improve. I want to help you and believe I give an excellent service for a fair fee. I want you to refer your friends to me because of the confidence in the body’s ability to heal and in my ability to access that healing power. This work gives me the deep satisfaction that I saw in my dad and now I share his love of helping and serving others to have a better life.
